    The Balmoral in Edinburgh definitely deserves to be one of the top 450 hotels in the world! We stayed there on 26 October for two nights to celebrate my mother’s 80th birthday. The standard of service was exemplary. We dined in the hotel for the first night. The food and service was top notch. The second night we dined in a neighbouring hotel but sadly the lack of staff training resulted in a disappointing experience because although the food was good it was spoilt by being cold due to the chaotic service. Just shows that the Balmoral, although also subject to the same turmoil of staff shortages like everyone else due to Covid, has ensured that training and high standards are paramount for new staff. Nothing was too much trouble for us to ask from choice of room to late check out. Well done to all at the Balmoral. It is a pleasure to see that this hotel is not using Covid as an excuse for a reduced service! Highly recommend.
