Hotel Sacher Salzburg

Salzburg’s rich musical and literary history certainly deserved a venue to match. Opened in 1866, the hotel attracted the intelligentsia and high society from the very outset. The Sacher family acquired it in 1988, but it did not take on its current name until the year 2000. On the banks of the River Salzach, between the Old Town and Hohensalzburg Fortress, it was renovated at the turn of the 21st century under the guidance of Pierre-Yves Rochon, who infused the building with a refreshing contemporary feel, preserving its traditional essence whilst enhancing it with modern touches. The oil paintings and marquetry are showcased against a colour palette of taupe, powder pink and ivory, while the Sacher Grill, dear to both visitors and Salzburgers alike, has lost none of its gourmet flair, with a menu retaining a timeless brasserie character. The highlight is the Sky Suite, a new suite nestled at the very top of the hotel, offering a truly singular home away from home for a few days.
