The Gritti Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel

Designed for the Pisani family in 1475, the Gothic Gritti Palace was the residence of Doge Andrea Gritti, and its terrace overlooks San Giorgio and the Salute. Suites are named after Hemingway and Peggy Guggenheim, while in the kitchen, Alberto Fol draws inspiration from the islands and herbs of the lagoon for his tagliatelle with langoustines and Badoere asparagus. After Epicurean School, head concierge Ivan Schultz leads guests to the workshop of a master fórcolaio – one of the last still practising the craft – whose chisel transforms an oar into a sculpture. The spa draws its materials from the city itself, including Orsoni gold mosaics and Murano glass.
