Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora

There are places where the setting does most of the talking. At the Four Seasons Bora Bora, it is the lagoon: everywhere you look; water, sky and the silhouette of Otemanu. The overwater bungalows sit above it, with pandanus roofs, teak and Polynesian details giving them the feel of private island houses. Open the doors and the lagoon is quite literally at your feet. Days tend to arrange themselves around the water, with a swim before breakfast, an outrigger canoe across the lagoon, perhaps a little time among the coral gardens, then lunch barefoot on the sand. At Fare Hoa, the cooking stays close to the islands, while the Te Mahana Spa takes a quieter approach; hidden among the pandanus at the edge of the lagoon, with open-air treatment pavilions and an overwater suite looking straight into the blue.
