Once the residence of an Italian duchess who found sanctuary in what is known today as the Riviera Maya, the estate has lost none of its stately bearing or its spirit of hospitality. Paths wind from the original structure to each of the 51 guest units, which seem to melt into the surrounding canopy. Beyond the whitewashed walls, interiors showcase local craftsmanship in ceramics and rugs, and distinctive furniture, including pieces from the workshops of Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Jeanneret. As guests wander the property, paintings by the likes of Warhol and Picasso appear here and there. With immaculate white decor, suites are brightened by splashes of vivid colour on seating and textiles both draped and hung, while the beach unfolds in total privacy. Japanese, meat-centric, and local cuisines come together here, perfectly reflecting the venue’s multifaceted identity.
