The Peninsula Hong Kong
Known as the ‘Grande Dame of the East’, this hotel opened in 1928 and remains the city’s oldest hotel. The original neoclassical structure now serves as the foundation for an imposing tower, offering varying perspectives of the bay from every level. Guests are welcomed by the graceful presence of white-clad bellhops before admiring the lobby’s painted ceilings, colonnade gargoyles, and palm trees. The traditional afternoon tea takes place in the lobby, with sweet and savoury bites paired with steaming oolong tea. Ascending to the upper floors reveals a contemporary take on classic Hong Kong style, along with a magnificent view of Victoria Harbour from the Peninsula Suite terrace. Beyond the refined, French-influenced menu at Gaddi’s, named after the hotel’s former manager, guests can enjoy a swim in the Roman-style pool on the eighth floor.
