Raffles Boston Hotel

Some challenges are a pleasure to take on. In the case of Raffles Boston, it meant transforming a 35-storey glass-and-steel structure in the quintessentially Victorian Back Bay neighbourhood. For guests, arrival brings with it all the ritual of a grand establishment, through a stately entrance framed by greenery. Inside, a refined sophistication blending shades of beige, lacquer, and marble sets the tone for the patrician aesthetic so characteristic of the East Coast. In the suites, 1950s Boston modernist style takes over, with wood and leather accents surrounding the sleeping areas and their plush beds, and drawing the eye towards the greenery through the windows. This same foliage inspired the bas-relief in the Sky Lobby, a tribute to the ‘Emerald Necklace’, or green belt encircling the city, which can also be admired from the terrace armchairs. The experience concludes on a jazzy note at the Blind Duck, a wood-panelled bar with a speakeasy vibe.
