Royal Livingstone Victoria Falls

Wildlife is part of everyday life here. Zebras, giraffes and antelope wander through Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, while the Zambezi flows just beyond the lodge. The main house and its adjoining buildings sit quietly beneath the trees, with the feel of a much-loved country estate. Inside, the mood is warm and distinctly rooted in its setting. Deep armchairs gather around open fires, while old maps, drawings and collected artefacts tell the story of the river and the land around it. The suites follow the same understated spirit, opening onto either the Zambezi or the savannah. Their clean-lined interiors take their colours from the landscape, with botanical and wildlife prints bringing the bush indoors. At The Old Drift, the kitchen works with what the surrounding gardens have to offer, changing its menu with the seasons. Later, Traveller’s Bar is the place for a gin and a quiet recollection of the day – perhaps after a visit to the falls, arranged by the lodge’s dedicated team.
