The Fife Arms

In Braemar, you roll up to the Fife Arms with moss on your shoes. A place that weaves its own singular atmosphere: Ancient Quartz, a canvas from the circle of Brueghel the Younger, and a nineteenth-century fireplace dedicated to Robert Burns punctuate the run of drawing rooms and corridors. The next morning, a ghillie takes you into the Deeside woods or onto the Invercauld estate. After the woods, the outdoor sauna and cold plunge flip the day's temperature. At the Clunie Dining Room, the open fire keeps venison, Katy's eggs and village vegetables company. Bertie's advises on whisky, Elsa's leans towards cocktails. When rain hits the glass, the soft heat of the fireplace is exactly where you want to be.
