In China’s cultural capital, a city of poetry and art, Upper House Chengdu unfolds right next to Daci Temple and Taikoo Li. The complex is anchored by three historic structures: the Bitieshi, a Qing Dynasty building, and two traditional courtyard houses, which have been preserved and transformed into Mi Xun Teahouse, a Michelin-starred vegetarian restaurant, and Mi Xun Spa. Moving through patios and colonnades, guests discover suites defined by contemporary touches of wood, glass, and artworks by Shi Zhongying or Marvin Fung, creating a journey of discovery. As the sky glows at sunset, a Bamboo Massage, performed using bamboo stalks, unfolds with an air of almost liturgical ritual.
