Ranthambhore hotels collection

At Ranthambore, one learns to wait. The dry forest crackles under the wheels, the langurs raise the alarm, the sambar lift their heads, and the tiger decides. Above, an old fort holds the plateau, its walls overrun by banyans, its temples still in use. The lake of Padam Talao keeps crocodiles in the sun and, at the water's edge, a hunting lodge of red sandstone. Morning is cold, noon burning, and the silence, between two bird calls, almost complete. The tiger comes or does not come; what remains, in the dust of the track, are its prints from the morning.
