The St Regis Bali Resort
Nusa Dua, Indonesia
On a single hill at Nusa Dua, a mosque, two churches, a Buddhist temple and a Hindu temple stand side by side at Puja Mandala. Around it, the Bukit, a limestone peninsula, drinks the rain and leaves the rice fields to the rest of Bali. Pura Geger holds the edge of its cliff above the Indian Ocean. At Tanjung Benoa, the wooden outrigger canoes carry at the prow the head of the gajah mina, half elephant, half fish, with its great painted eyes.
