San Jose del Cabo hotels collection

Humpback whales come to calve off San José del Cabo through the winter, and can be seen blowing from the beach. Around the church of the old Jesuit mission, the square, the low façades and the stone-paved streets have kept their scale. At La Playita, the fishermen still haul their pangas up the sand. Set back, the Sierra de la Laguna carries its oaks and pines above the cardón cactus. The San José river runs only after the rains and stops short of the sea, held back by a bar of sand, in an estuary of palms and reeds where herons nest.
