Six Senses Zighy Bay

Oman

Six Senses Zighy Bay

Set between rugged mountains and a secluded beach, the retreat can be reached by road, by boat or, when the wind allows, by paraglider. Stone and timber buildings echo the character of a local village, blending so naturally into the landscape that they almost disappear when seen from the sea. Sandy paths wind between the suites and the main buildings, leading from bright, open stretches into the shade. The main pool sits beneath the date palms, with the feel of a desert oasis. Each of the eighty-two suites has its own pool, while earthy tones, locally made pottery and lanterns, raw timber and linen curtains give them the easy feel of a private home. The waters around the Musandam Peninsula are alive with marine life and well worth exploring below the surface. For dinner, Sense on the Edge is perched above the bay, serving a twelve-course menu that changes with the day’s catch and produce. Some evenings, the beach becomes an open-air cinema, with loungers, cushions and homemade popcorn beneath the stars.
