Eden Rock St Barths
Saint Barthélemy
White and starched, the quichenotte once worn by the women of Corossol reached far out over the face, against the sun; Saintonge knew a bonnet of the same name. In this fishing quarter, latanier leaves are still plaited into hats and tightly woven baskets, and people still speak a patois that came from the provinces of western France. At Grand Fond, on the windward coast, the Atlantic swell breaks on dark rocks; there, the language is Creole.
