Casares hotels collection

On a clear day, from the walls of Casares castle, one can make out the Rock of Gibraltar and, across the strait, the mountains of the Rif. The village comes down from its ridge in lime-washed houses, pressed against one another and set directly on the rock. Griffon vultures circle above the tiled roofs. Further down, towards the sea, the Baños de la Hedionda collect water that the Romans channelled; its sulphur can be smelt from the path, well before the spring comes into view.
