Canton of Vaud hotels collection

The canton of Vaud steps down towards Lake Geneva, and the vines of Lavaux occupy the last steps, held by stone walls that keep the heat for the night. Lausanne climbs and descends without end, by metro as on foot; Vevey and Montreux follow the water beneath palm trees the lake permits; Chillon sets its castle on its rock, its feet in the water. Behind, the Vaud Alps keep their pastures and wooden villages, where the cows come down in September with flowers on their heads. The far shore is French; from here, it seems a long way off.
