The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee
Greensboro, United States
Near the courthouse in Greensboro, the old granite jail is said to have been modelled on the Bastille. Greene County is red clay and pine. Wallace Dam drowned the Oconee valley beneath a lake that is partly refilled each night with water pumped back up from Lake Sinclair, downstream. To the north, in the forest, the brick walls of Scull Shoals, a former mill village, crumble a little further with each flood of the Oconee.
