Le Meurice, Paris

The Tuileries have been part of the view since 1835. After a later renovation, the greyhounds were left behind — now the hotel’s unofficial mascots, immortalised in the mosaics leading to the grand entrance.

It was being called “the first palace in Paris” long before the term acquired any official meaning. Even a few hours here are enough to understand the reputation: a certain standard, a certain way of doing things, that feels entirely natural within these walls.
