From the water, the two towers seem to ripple upwards, their curves echoing the movement of the sea below, in a striking meeting of city and landscape. Inside, New York’s Gilded Age meets the character of Abu Dhabi: grand staircases, ceilings picked out with local patterns, richly woven carpets and intricate detailing set the tone. The same spirit continues through the keys, which feel more like private residences, bringing together references from both sides of the world. The Abu Dhabi Suite is the showpiece. Set on the 200-metre-high skybridge between the two towers, it appears to float above the city, with a 360-degree panorama stretching across Abu Dhabi. Three pools punctuate the grounds, including one beside a palm-fringed beach club. At Catch, the day’s seafood arrives as sushi or in dishes such as 48-hour marinated black cod. Villa Toscana turns to Italian classics, from fried calamari and 24-month-aged Parmesan rigatoni with truffle to a Milanese veal chop.
