Amantaka

Luang Prabang, Laos

Amantaka

In Luang Prabang, the former royal capital of Laos, nestled amongst the neighbouring temples and the Mekong River, this residence invites visitors to adopt a different pace of life. It’s a rhythm that includes taking part in the morning rituals of almsgiving to the monks and blessing ceremonies, embracing a spiritual journey that remains very much alive. Reflecting this spirit, the spaces have been designed in the tradition of the building's colonial-era architecture, featuring open, airy rooms, four-poster beds, and wardrobes and desks crafted from dark local timber in contrast with the cool brightness of the walls. Louvred French windows filter the generous light, casting patterns across the white, cream or beige surfaces. With Laotian touches, the restaurant showcases organic produce from the estate’s garden, evoking a rich culinary imagination through its distinctive cuisine.
