Luang Prabang hotels collection

Between the Mekong and the Nam Khan, Luang Prabang occupies a peninsula so narrow that its streets mostly end on one bank or the other. Monasteries alternate with wooden houses on stilts and colonial villas of stucco with timber shutters. At the tip, where the rivers meet, Wat Xieng Thong carries a tree of life in glass mosaic on its rear wall. Across the water, at Ban Xang Khong, paper is made from mulberry bark with petals pressed into it. In the dry season, a bamboo bridge is thrown across the Nam Khan, for the first flood to carry away.
