Arrive at the distinctive island of Muravandhoo by air, and you’ll see a structure shaped like a manta ray come into view. Housing a dining area conceived by artist Porky Hefer, it anchors the property in a vision of hospitality that embraces art. Around a dozen artists and designers from countries such as Italy, Venezuela, and the UK have each created multidisciplinary installations in harmony with the surroundings; Misha Kahn designed an underwater sculpture garden, while Studio Glithero created vases and tiles featuring imprints of local flora. The 73 guest rooms extend this immersive philosophy, with interiors shaped by local materials. Dining shares this ethos, with each restaurant boasting its own distinct aesthetic identity, including the Japanese restaurant Saoke, designed by architect Noriyoshi Muramatsu.
