Nestled at the foot of Mount Namsan, the hotel highlights a distinctive characteristic of the capital: an urban concept that respects and preserves nature. The vast brick facades, recognisable from afar, anchor this Seoul landmark, a favourite haunt of heads of state and the social elite. Guests enter a lobby of monumental scale before stepping directly into the Library, where velvet sofas and lacquered walls create an intimate embrace that’s ideal for enjoying a drink to live jazz in the evening. The upper floors reveal the city’s duality; from every room, one is brought face-to-face with either the forest or the urban landscape, viewed from a lofty vantage point. On the top floor, La Yeon elevates seasonal ingredients from across the country, celebrating the fermentation traditions, broths, grilled dishes, and condiments that give Korean cuisine its distinctive character. A run through the Namsan forest and a glimpse of the ground-floor hanok reception area complete a neo-traditional picture defined by tasteful restraint.
