Paro hotels collection

Red in autumn, the roofs of Paro carry the chillies spread out on them to dry, above farmhouses of rammed earth with painted wooden windows. The valley is wide enough for rice, and the paddies run right up beneath Rinpung Dzong, a fortress of whitewashed walls reached by a covered cantilever bridge over the Paro river. Higher up, Taktsang clings to its cliff, reached on foot through pines and prayer flags. The airport lies on the valley floor; planes land there only by day, by sight, between the slopes.
