Philadelphia hotels collection

For nearly a century, no building in Philadelphia rose above William Penn's hat, his bronze statue crowning City Hall; the agreement was written down nowhere, and it was kept. The streets of Society Hill keep their red-brick houses and brick pavements, lifted here and there by the roots of the trees. On the Schuylkill, the rowing clubs of Boathouse Row carry their boats out at dawn, between boathouses with Victorian gables. At the city's edge, the Wissahickon has cut a wooded gorge into the schist, where the only covered bridge Philadelphia has kept still stands.
