St Jean Cap Ferrat hotels collection

Hospitius, a hermit, lived shut away in a tower at the end of the peninsula, weighed down with chains, eating nothing there but bread and a few dates. A chapel bears his name on the point, at the end of a path that rounds the cape over limestone, beneath Aleppo pines. The harbour of Saint-Jean keeps its painted wooden pointus, the local fishing boats. On the isthmus, between two bays, Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild had a garden laid out in the shape of a ship's deck, with the Temple of Love at the prow and the sea on either side.
