Ubud hotels collection

In Balinese, ubad means remedy, and Ubud is said to take its name from the medicinal plants once gathered in its ravines. At Campuhan, a word for a confluence, two branches of the Wos river meet below the temple of Gunung Lebah. At the temple of Taman Saraswati, dedicated to the goddess of learning, a lotus pond lies before the gate of brick and carved tuff. On the hill of Penestanan, the painter Arie Smit handed out paints to the village boys; they painted the rice fields pink, violet and blue, and others have carried on.
