Asni hotels collection

On Saturdays the villages of the valley come down to the souk at Asni, on the banks of the Rheraya, with barley, walnuts and mules, and go back up with loaves of sugar. Higher up, the road through the Aït Mizane valley stops at Imlil; beyond it, baggage climbs by mule to the Toubkal refuges. Houses of pisé rise in tiers up the slope, and maize and nuts are left to dry on their flat roofs of beaten earth. Beneath the walnut trees, terraced fields drink from the seguias, whose water is shared among families by turns, to the hour, on a rota inherited along with the land.
