Dorado hotels collection

Worn by the swell, a rock on Mameyal beach in Dorado forms an ox's head turned out to sea, eye and horn included; the bay is called Ojo del Buey. In the town, the Casa del Rey, its thick walls raised to house the Spanish garrison, later became the home of Manuel Alonso, who had portrayed the mountain peasants in El Gíbaro. The Río de la Plata ends here in the Atlantic, after coming down from the mountains of the interior. Behind the beaches, sea grapes hold the dunes; their round leaves turn red as they age.
