Bath hotels collection

Angels climb two stone ladders on the west front of Bath Abbey; a few, head downwards, are coming back down. The stone is that of the whole city, an oolitic limestone quarried from the surrounding hills, soft when first cut and hardening in the air. Below, the Avon spills over a horseshoe weir beneath Pulteney Bridge. At the Circus, John Wood gave the ring of pale façades roughly the diameter of Stonehenge, and set stone acorns along the parapets, in homage to the druids whose capital he believed Bath to have been.
