One&Only Hotels in Dubai: The Palm vs Royal Mirage

Capital of the Emirate of Dubai in the Persian Gulf, Dubai is a city of daring, splendour and excess. The city brings together the wildest architectural creations, even creating islands ex nihilo on its coast to house its grandiose luxury hotels. The city offers incomparable luxury shopping experiences and effervescent nightlife.

Within the Lartisien collection, the One&Only Royal Mirage and Royal The Palm hotels occupy a place of choice, each offering a particular experience, which we detail here so that you can choose the one that suits you best.

One&Only Royal Mirage, an oriental resort between beach and skyscraper

Surrounded by a 65 acres landscaped garden and boasting 1 km of private beach along Jumeirah Beach, the One&Only Royal Mirage is one of Dubai’s first resorts and was built in the purest Oriental style.

The hotel features arabesque architecture in an ochre-yellow stone building adorned with oriental lanterns, embroidered fabrics and sculpted furniture. The hotel appears like a palace from a thousand and one nights, with its immense garden featuring pools surrounded by palm groves, fountains, domes and arches.

The hotel’s 438 rooms, suites and villas are spread over three buildings (the Palace, the Arabian Court and the Residence & Spa). Each one offers a contemporary vision of Arab aesthetics, with arabesques on furniture and carved panels, curtains and bedspreads, and a play of materials with dark woods. Rooms are luminous and punctuated with bright blue, pink or green colours, and their balconies offer views of the Persian Gulf or lush gardens.

One&Only Royal Mirage Restaurants and Dining

On the culinary front, the One&Only Royal Mirage boasts an impressive selection of 16 restaurants and bars for all tastes.

Argentine chef Mauro Colagreco’s Celebrities headlines the restaurant offering. In a sumptuous dining room with European décor and Arabian influences, decorated with multiple crystal chandeliers, guests can enjoy a French menu that reinterprets classics in lighter, more modern dishes. The Tagine restaurant, run by Chef Naima, showcases the flavors of Morocco in a subdued majlis-style setting with intimate alcoves, colorful tapestries and lanterns.

By the pool, l’Eauzone offers an Asian menu in a modern, festive atmosphere. La Rôtisserie is the ideal place to share a meal with family and watch the chefs at work, thanks to its open kitchen, set between copper fireplaces and cast-iron ovens. The chefs offer dishes of European and Middle Eastern origin.

If the Lobby Lounge is a pleasant place to sip tea over mezze or oriental pastries, the elegant Samovar Lounge is the ideal place to enjoy Afternoon Tea, with its views over the garden’s palm trees and fountains and the musical accompaniment of a piano. The Courtyards offers a typically Arab experience through its majlis style, with woven cushions laid on the floor, engraved copper tables and hookahs arranged between palm trees.

In a setting of whitewashed walls, slate floors and olive trees, the Olives restaurant offers Mediterranean flavors, including traditional Italian recipes.

Bringing guests to the beach, the Drift Beach Dubai is an adult-only zone with a sublime restaurant and a pool for guests to relax and enjoy some good food, and an Ibiza-style atmosphere. The chic Jetty Lounge and the Beach Bar & Grill, where guests can enjoy South American flavors for lunch and dinner, are also located on the beach, though both are accessible to families.

Spa at The Royal Mirage

The Rooftop is one of the hotel’s most picturesque spots, with majlis-style banquettes from which you can glimpse the hotel’s Arabian domes and the sea.

The dining room, reserved for guests of The Residence & Spa, has a setting reminiscent of a country house, with its wicker chairs and flower beds, terrace and private pool. In the Library Lounge, guests can retreat to a beautiful library featuring rare editions.

One&Only Royal Mirage completes its offer with the sensational Health and Beauty Institute. With its traditional arabesque architecture, the spa houses 12 treatment rooms dedicated to massages and treatments using ESPA brand products. Committed to holistic care, the spa offers eco therapy and sound treatments. Guests also have access to steam rooms, saunas, swimming pools, an authentic oriental hammam and a fully-equipped fitness center. The spa also features a beauty salon by Bastien Gonzalez and a hair salon by Alexandre Zouari.

One&Only The Palm: An Andalusian Hotel Between Tradition and Nature

Situated on the tip of the artificial Palm Jumeirah island, where a number of luxury hotels coexist, One&Only The Palm offers the experience of a spacious, lush oasis far from the hustle and bustle of Dubai, yet right opposite the megalopolis.

The hotel boasts an Andalusian style, with Moorish influences evident in its lacy details, arcaded courtyards and ponds. The architects at WA Internationals who built the hotel were inspired by the 14th-century Alhambra Palace. The hotel stands out for its spaciousness and lush gardens. The gardens are even said to be inhabited by rabbits.

The hotel’s 90 rooms and suites, as well as its 4 villas, feature a contemporary interior design that integrates the Moorish influence present throughout the establishment. The interiors offer a discreet, refined palette of white, dark wood, floral carpets, lush bedspreads and numerous arabesque details found in curtains or carved wood. All rooms have loggias, allowing you to enjoy the landscape sheltered from the sun and lulled by the sea breeze. With its seafront patio and private pool, the Palm Beach Executive Suite with pool is a favourite.

One&Only The Palm Restaurants and Dining

On the culinary front, One&Only The Palm boasts three restaurants and bars, as well as the lounge where light meals and Afternoon Tea are served in a sublime, pristine white arabesque lounge. All three restaurants are run by Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alléno. With its two stars, STAY by Yannick Alléno is one of only two restaurants in the region to hold such a distinction, making it a culinary destination in its own right. The chef offers classic French cuisine. Stay’s special feature is its “pastry library”, a veritable laboratory of gastronomic creation where the chef elaborates subtle preparations and extractions.

The Zest restaurant has a more modern, relaxed Moorish-inspired setting, offering guests culinary flavors from Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

A restaurant on stilts, the 101 Dining Lounge and Marina by Yannick Alléno offers a sublime panorama over the sapphire waters of the Arabian Sea, to enjoy a seafood menu accompanied by a glass of champagne or a cocktail. A place to see and be seen, often enlivened by DJ Nader’s house DJsets (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 7pm to 11pm) or the South African band 4 the Music (every Saturday from 3pm to 6pm).

One&Only The Palm Spa

One&Only The Palm boasts an exclusive collaboration with Guerlain for its spa. The Guerlain spa, the only one of its kind in the United Arab Emirates, is housed in a Moorish-inspired building reminiscent of ancient palaces, where guests can enjoy the wellness programs or exclusive fragrances the brand has created for the hotel. Treatments are inspired by traditional Arabian care rituals, where care for the body is linked to care for the mind. Guests can move between the salon and the hammam, and also enjoy a relaxing garden terrace, a hairdressing salon by Alexandre Zouari and a fully-equipped fitness centre.
