45 Park Lane

Facing verdant Hyde Park, a singular corner building rises up like an Art Deco ocean liner. Attributed to the founder of the Bauhaus, Walter Gropius, and to a London practice, once inside, guests can expect a sophisticated modernism as woodwork warms proportions of gigantic scale, immense shafts of radical light punctuate the place with a 1930s air, and soft leathers and drapery envelop visitors. Every suite, without exception, looks out over the park and from elegant sofas trimmed in hide, you can watch the sun dip below the tree canopy in the middle of the city. At CUT, guests enjoy flavourful grass-fed Hereford beef beneath Damien Hirst's Diamond Dust Psalms, while the 20-metre pool welcomes your morning laps, before you head back up for a steaming cup of tea and an English Breakfast.
