Atlantis The Royal

Some hotels call for a little grandeur in the writing. Set along the crescent of Palm Jumeirah, this one certainly does. A vast composition of steel and glass rises in every direction, its shifting lines opening onto patios, terraces and pools. The two wings are joined by a sky bridge, a feat of architectural poise, and conceal a succession of surprises: Sky Villas tucked high above the main structure, a private jetty stretching for more than two kilometres, and the Club 22 Beach Villa, perched on the twenty-second floor with sweeping views from its private pools. Marble, lacquer and polished finishes run throughout. There is plenty to choose from at the table, too, from the evocative Nobu on the Beach to Ariana Bundy’s Persian-inspired cooking, alongside an American-style diner and fourteen other options. Discretion was never the point here.
