Hotel Sacher Vienna

Hotel Sacher Vienna

Whilst the Sacher Torte is part of Austria’s national heritage, Eduard, the son of its creator, Franz Sacher, made his mark on the capital by building a residence that has become inextricably linked with Vienna’s history. When he built it in 1876, opposite the Vienna State Opera, the hotel’s founder intended it as an unmissable destination for the burgeoning tourism industry. Today, Hotel Sacher continues to embody a certain ideal of hospitality. Pierre-Yves Rochon, in collaboration with co-owner Alexandra Winkler, has designed spaces that proudly showcase a Viennese identity. Fine materials and rare fabrics in a palette of classic tones, rich in warm colours, create a lived-in atmosphere. This timeless retreat conveys its contemporary roots through discreet touches. The Rote Bar restaurant, for instance, thoughtfully offers the great classics of local tradition in both their original form and as modern vegan interpretations.
