A modern silhouette, designed by architect Patricia Urquiola, stands out for miles around, silhouetted against the horizon. Minimalist design allows the building to blend perfectly into the landscape, as if it’s just emerging from the waters of the lake. The collaboration between botanist Patrick Blanc (inventor of the living wall) and landscape architect Flavio Pollano has given rise to gardens rich with several hundred plant species, where the scents of myrtle and lavender mingle. The interiors embrace the same natural approach, featuring a colour palette ranging from blue to light grey in a reflection of the surrounding environment, with wood and stone sourced from the Lombardy region, and textiles woven by local artisans. The interplay of light and transparency gives pride of place to the open views of the outdoors, placing the water and the sky at the heart of the space.
