La Residencia, perched above Deià, combines two 16th- and 17th-century manor houses amidst the terraced olive groves of the Tramuntana mountains. Cala Deià is a 30-minute walk away. The village was once an artists’ colony, and the hotel bears traces of this: at the Joan Miró restaurant, visitors settle down to dinner surrounded by 33 of the painter’s canvases surround, and the suite named after him features a tea set inspired by a 1952 ‘Untitled’ work. Robert Graves lived just a few minutes away, and also has a villa named after him, and the in-house art collection is a Sheridan family affair: George put it together, Cecilie curates it, and her daughter Tara leads the tours.
