Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park London

Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park London

On one side, Knightsbridge; on the other, Hyde Park. This former gentlemen's club was born of that duality of city and nature, and today, it's a vibrant hotel. The Edwardian heritage of the building is tangible right from the entrance, where the imposing marble staircase leads up to the lounges, corridors and lifts. In the suites, a pastel spareness, cosy duvets and delightfully British furniture combine, as buttoned headboards promise a restorative bubble. Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, explores more than five centuries of British gastronomy, from the Middle Ages and their broths through to more contemporary inflections. At the Aubrey, meanwhile, set course for nocturnal Ginza by way of a neo-izakaya, where Japanese art pieces frame an omakase with cocktail pairings. A harmony of atmosphere, that the British capital does so very well.
