Mandarin Oriental Lutetia, Paris

The Lutetia has stood on the corner of Boulevard Raspail and Rue de Sèvres since 1910, when the Boucicaut family had it built near their Bon Marché department store. The corner has remained a meeting place for the Saint Germain crowd for over a century, and in 2018 Jean-Michel Wilmotte restored this Art Nouveau and Art Deco landmark. Joséphine Baker has lent her name to the bar, beneath its historic fresco, and to one of the suites. At the weekend, tea is served in the Salon Saint-Germain, beneath the glass roof painted by the artist Fabrice Hyber, while in the brasserie, the seafood counter opens onto the kitchens, facing the patio.
