From the Pantheon, it is just a few cobbles to the Palazzo Fonseca, on the Piazza della Minerva. Built for an illustrious family, turned into a hotel in 1811, it keeps the memory of those who lived in it and told its story. Inside, Art Deco patterns and opulent materials keep you company without drawing your eye from the marble statues. At Gigi Rigolatto Roma, the terrace runs from the Pantheon to the Quirinal: one of Rome’s sacrosanct views. At the spa, the rhythm of the Ottoman baths is kept. From his eponymous suite with its listed ceilings, Stendhal wrote part of his Promenades in Rome. On the floor below, Thomas Bernhard placed Murau, the narrator of Extinction.
