The Mark

At 25 East 77th Street on Madison Avenue, the brick façade evokes a London building, while the American flag anchors the address firmly in Manhattan. This 1920s structure, reimagined by Jacques Grange, is a must-visit for any aesthete or socialite in town; the lobby’s black-and-white marble sets the tone, as does its sculptural furniture, all sophisticated responses to a certain New York lifestyle. Moving up through the floors, one passes from apartment to apartment, each featuring a palette of bold colours blended with black and white, offering views of either the park or the cityscape. Back downstairs, the Mark Bar welcomes guests into its intimate, wood-panelled space for a Cucumber Martini before dinner at the adjoining restaurant, helmed by the renowned Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
