Villa Igiea, a Rocco Forte Hotel

Ernesto Basile designed Villa Igiea for the Florio family, who made it one of the centres of Palermo’s Belle Époque, and its Art Nouveau terraces slope down towards the harbour, beneath Monte Pellegrino. At the Florio, guests dine in the original Louis XVI dining room where the family used to entertain, and the bar beneath the sandstone vaults houses the widest selection of Florio liqueurs. A suite is named after Donna Franca Florio. The restoration has incorporated the colours of the sea and Sicilian stone, featuring antiques found on the island, whilst the grand mirrored ballroom remains intact.
