Champillon hotels collection

Champillon sits halfway up the slope, facing south, and the whole village looks out over the Marne valley. Above it, the forest of the Montagne de Reims; below, premier cru vines on chalk so near the surface that the tracks come out white. Épernay fills the valley floor without showing anything of the galleries cut into the chalk beneath its avenues, where bottles wait in the dark. On the next slope, Hautvillers keeps the tomb of Dom Pérignon in its abbey church; he is credited with inventing champagne, and has never denied it.
