Four Seasons Resort Megeve
Megeve, France
A new chalet in Megève gives itself away by its pale wood; it takes a few winters of sun and snow to turn the shade of the rest. Many follow the model Henry Jacques Le Même drew here from the farmhouses of Savoy: a broad roof, timber on a stone base, wide windows turned towards Mont Blanc. Mont d'Arbois and Rochebrune share the slopes on either side of the village, where the church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste raises its onion-domed bell tower. Above it, the chapels of the Calvary are set out in stages beneath the spruces, up to the top of the hill.
