Langkawi hotels collection

The sandstone of Machinchang, on Langkawi, was laid down before life had reached dry land; Gunung Raya, at the centre of the island, is a far younger granite. Along the Kilim river, limestone rises in grey pinnacles above the mangroves. One follows it by boat. To the south, on Pulau Dayang Bunting, a freshwater lake fills a limestone basin, kept from the sea by a thin wall of rock.
