Gstaad hotels collection

Carved beneath the eaves of the chalets of the Saanenland, an inscription gives the names of those who built them, a prayer, sometimes a rather dry proverb. Gstaad has them in every size, timber browned by the sun and fretwork balconies. In Saanen, the church keeps its Gothic frescoes and hosts each summer the festival founded by Yehudi Menuhin; at the head of the Lauenen valley, a lake lies among the peat bogs. On the high pastures, cheese is still made over a wood fire, in copper cauldrons. A little further down the line, in Rougemont, people already say bonjour.
