Le Bristol Paris, Oetker Hotels

At the Bristol, the garden is never quite outside. It flows into the Épicure restaurant through six tall windows, complements Arnaud Faye’s cuisine and ultimately makes you forget the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré outside. By bringing the outside in, the hotel delights in quietly transforming Paris. On the sixth floor, the yacht designer Cäsar Pinnau, has installed a swimming pool on a teak deck, beneath a painting of Cap d’Antibes. Joséphine Baker chose the Bristol to celebrate her 50th anniversary in show business, and today, her memory is part of beating heart of the place, along with other, more private moments. Every January 21st, a rose is placed before the bust of Louis XVI in Café Antonia. At tea time, no one comments on it; it simply lies there in the light of the garden.
