Shanghai hotels collection

Shanghai has two banks and two centuries. On the Bund, the granite banks look across the river at the towers of Pudong, which grew in a generation. Behind them, the plane trees of the former French Concession shade Art Deco villas and brick lanes, the longtang, where washing is hung and cards are played. The city rises early and walks fast, beneath façades that change century from one crossroads to the next. On the Huangpu, the barges pass without end, and at night the façades light up and the river doubles them.
