Glenapp Castle
United Kingdom
In Scotland the light changes several times an hour, and the landscape lends itself to it. The Highlands line up their black lochs beneath rounded mountains covered in heather, Glencoe closes its walls on a road where one slows down without noticing, Skye raises its basalt needles to the Atlantic. Edinburgh keeps its stepped closes below the castle, and Speyside distils its whisky beside a salmon river. The castles are of sandstone or granite, the sheep are everywhere, and one walks through wet grass without ever quite complaining.
