The white Turnberry lighthouse comes into view before anything else, standing on the edge of the Ayrshire links, and the clubhouse has stood firm against the winds from the Firth of Clyde since 1906. The Ailsa golf course hosted the Open Championship several times, and the memory of the Duel in the Sun remains closely associated with it. Tom Watson has left his mark on the members’ lounge, and the clubhouse restaurant bears the name of the duel, while Martin Ebert brought several holes closer to the shore, with the halfway house at the foot of the lighthouse. In the kitchen, Ryan Murphy prepares beef from Girvan Mains and lamb from Hummston Byre, reared just three miles from the greens.
